Trump UFC event suspected culprit for grounded flights at Reagan Airport

The main airport for D.C. has been grounding flights, and Trump’s UFC event is suspect number one, according to reporters.

MeidasTouch journalist Aaron Parnas reported on Saturday night that the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport was “currently on a ground stop and has been temporarily closed ‘for an event,'” via an X post.

“Planes set to land at DC’s airport have alerted their passengers,” he wrote, less than 24 hours before the start of Trump’s UFC cage match on the White House South Lawn was set to begin. The lighting at the UFC event nearly blinded a pilot while trying to land a commercial flight at Reagan National, Parnas had reported earlier in the week.

In a response to a post by Meridith McGraw, a White House reporter for the Wall Street Journal, American Airlines said that delays stem from “crew availability.”

Josh Schwerin, a political communications specialist, reported via X that “they’ve been shutting down DCA airspace on and off for two days to practice airshows for the UFC fight,” using the Reagan Airport’s airport code, DCA. “That combined with weather has made for a real mess at DCA.”
