‘Wait, what is going on?’ Fox News host floored by Trump’s ‘eye-opening’ money revelations

Fox News host Dana Perino was left stunned after President Donald Trump’s financial disclosure revealed nearly $1.4 billion in crypto earnings.

The reaction came right after reporters grilled Trump on Tuesday about the filing in a press gaggle outside Air Force One.

The 927-page document, released by the Office of Government Ethics, showed Trump earned nearly $1.4 billion in cryptocurrency in 2025 — his first year back in the White House — including $635 million in meme coin royalties, more than $500 million from token sales tied to World Liberty Financial, a crypto company co-founded by his family, and roughly $65 million in equity sales connected to the same venture.

“It was eye-opening for a lot of people that you can make that kind of money,” Perino said on Fox News.

“Maybe it is in crypto, maybe it’s not, but it does feel a little bit like, wait, what is going on?”

“They’re not on the most solid ground here,” she added. “He did a decent job of trying to get the ball down the field a little bit and to deflect, but there’s no doubt about that.”

Rice University historian Douglas Brinkley told NBC News there is “no precedent to compare” Trump’s financial entanglements with any prior president. Ethics watchdogs have raised conflict-of-interest concerns — arguing Trump shaped crypto policy while his family profited from it.

“And if you remember, we spent a lot of time talking about Hunter Biden,” Perino said. “Maybe his mistake was only asking for $10,000,000 from Ukraine”

“These people are businessmen, and they know what they’re doing,” she continued. “They look at their big plans, and they’re not afraid to take a risk. And if you take a risk, that’s how you can make a little bit of money — but you also have to have someone to help maybe open a door, and that’s what’s happening.”

“But if you lose control of Congress, that’s when the investigations come,” Fox News host Bill Hemmer warned. “That’s when the questions come. And then you get that steady drumbeat.”
