MAGA grows unsettled as Mitch McConnell’s health saga sparks ‘national security’ concerns

A prominent MAGA figure is demanding answers regarding Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who in mid-June was discovered in his home unconscious and has not been seen publicly since.

“I think this whole situation surrounding Mitch McConnell just became far more serious,” argued Kylie Jane Kremer, a prominent MAGA activist and organizer associated with Women for America First, the group that organized President Donald Trump’s 2021 rally that culminated in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

McConnell’s office has released few details regarding the state of McConnell’s health since the health incident occurred in mid-June. It wouldn’t be until weeks later in early July that it was learned McConnell was discovered unconscious and had to be administered CPR for possible cardiac arrest.

It was also revealed on Saturday that McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, Trump’s former transportation secretary, had traveled to Beijing, China to discuss U.S.-China relations with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, just three days after her husband’s hospitalization.

The lack of information released regarding McConnell’s health, coupled with Chao’s “bizarre” behavior just days after her husband’s hospitalization, left Kremer demanding answers.

“Elaine Chao hasn’t held a U.S. government position since January 7, 2021. The Logan Act prohibits unauthorized private citizens from conducting correspondence or negotiations with foreign governments regarding disputes or matters involving the United States,” Kremer wrote in a social media post published Sunday night.

“If Elaine Chao was representing the United States with authorization from the U.S. government, the State Department should say so. If she was acting solely as a private citizen while discussing U.S.-China relations with senior Chinese officials, it raises legitimate questions about whether the Logan Act could apply.”

Adding that she considered McConnell and Chao’s situation to be a “national security issue,” Kremer argued that the “American people deserve answers,” a demand that was met with agreement by disgraced former Republican Rep. George Santos.

“I’ve said this before and will say it again… I always thought she was a longtime infiltrator and I still believe that today!” Santos wrote in response. “Her actions are not of a worried spouse.”
