Online critics pushed back against President Donald Trump’s demand for communities to stop resisting a contentious piece of tech infrastructure.

On Thursday, Trump spoke ahead of unveiling his “Ratepayer Protection Pledge” at the Environmental Protection Agency and made remarks about data centers, which are becoming a touchy subject.
“You have to convince your communities how great these things are,” Trump said. “You can’t fight it. You have to go with it.”
However, reactions to Trump’s comments pushed back and resisted the idea of accepting data centers. Comments pointed out how unpopular data centers are, while others, including from the right, mocked Trump.
“Losing the issue by a mile,” posted conservative Daniel Horowitz, senior editor at The Blaze.
“Talk about not reading the room,” commented media personality Luke Rudkowski.
“He clearly doesn’t care about losing the midterms,” Trisha Hope, a former Texas Republican delegate and ex-MAGA supporter, wrote.

“No. I do NOT want data centers!” reacted Geri Perna, a deceased January 6 defendant’s aunt turned MAGA critic. “READ THE ROOM @POTUS”
“You are not convincing us, we are not going along with it,” posted Florida immigrant advocate Thomas Kennedy. “And we are going to fight it.”
Author Joyce Carol Oates wrote, “Person who will never live within 100 miles of a data center urges followers to convince their communities ‘how great these things are.'”
“One of the only nice things you can say about Trump is that he regularly humiliates his sycophants by forcing them to not only defend but embrace the most unpopular positions at any given time,” posted writer Pedro Gonzalez.
