Dr. Anthony Fauci’s diaries are causing a major headache for Stephen Miller and his wife Katie, new reports show.

The Millers — Katie a former Trump administration official and Stephen the White House deputy chief of staff — are scrambling to explain why the man they want jailed has praised her warmly and says he helped her handle COVID-19, reported NOTUS.
“katie Miller is great (tough, smart,but great),” wrote Fauci in his diary. “Am on phone frequently with katie and Stephen.”
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) published more than 1,000 pages of the physician’s diary entries after they were found on government servers, and some of the entries detailing Fauci and Miller discussing her child’s medical history were initially posted online but later redacted.
Miller has called for his imprisonment and dismissed his federal pardon as illegitimate, but “that’s a stark departure from the relationship Fauci wrote about in his diary,” as NOTUS reported.
Diary entries from 2020 show she relied on Fauci for medical guidance during her pregnancy, her husband’s COVID-19 diagnosis and a health scare involving their newborn.
“I am calling katie frequently to check on her couple time per day,” Fauci wrote in an entry dated May 9, 2020. “She is very anxious about getting very ill since she is 10 weeks pregnant. Tonight she had an anxiety reaction. I calmed her over the phone.”
Asked to reconcile the warmth documented in those entries with her current criticism, Miller told NOTUS she was never actually close to Fauci at all. She has said their relationship was strictly professional, and that she deliberately projected friendliness toward him so he wouldn’t work against her or her husband behind the scenes.

“I understood who he was, and I understood how to manage somebody like him,” she said.
She pointed to a passage where Fauci notes that he agreed with Stephen Miller on border restrictions to prevent the coronavirus from spreading within the U.S.
“How did Stephen Miller manage to get Dr. Fauci there?” she said. “It’s understanding how to communicate with somebody who wants to put themselves above others.”
That framing casts Miller as the one in control of the dynamic — a strategic operator managing a colleague she distrusted, not someone who misjudged him. It’s a coherent account, but one that sits awkwardly next to entries showing Fauci describing personal, non-work interactions, such as comforting her over the phone during an anxiety episode, checking in as she traveled to her parents’ home in Texas, and swapping jokes with her in the White House Situation Room.
A NOTUS review found the diary’s original release mentioned Miller far more often than a later, redacted version — raising questions about what was scrubbed and why, though Miller has said she wasn’t involved in the redaction process and that some medical details about her child were published without her consent.
The Daily Beast’s Cameron Adams appeared less than impressed with the Miller’s attempts to distance themselves from Fauci.
“The entries revealed that they were happy to take help from a MAGA hate figure,” he wrote. “[They] secretly turned to Anthony Fauci for COVID advice—then demanded the doctor be jailed.”
