On Thursday, it was announced that the US GDP grew at an anemic 1.5 percent rate which led “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough to blurt, “Oh my God, that is not good.”
As the segment began, host Scarborough went on a rant about Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick predicting massive growth for this quarter a year ago, before adding a sarcastic “wah wah wah.”
That was when the producers took over, adding a sad trombone “womp womp” repeatedly, leading to laughter from everyone.
Axios founder Jim VandeHei commented that current mortgage rates have reached “satanic levels.”

Scarbough quipped in response, “You know, it’s a really bad sign when you call your banker and say, ‘What are mortgage rates at?’ and the answer is: ‘I am legion 666.'”
This prompted another sound effect.
Turning to MS NOW contributor Richard Haas, Scarborough joked, “I mean you were around Richard in the 1920’s!”
He then corrected to the 1980s and added, “We had stagflation, man. And that’s where you’re getting it from both sides.”
Finally, Mika Brzezinski told producers to “play that sound again,” prompting more gales of laughter as the producers complied.
