Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has thrown U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro under the metaphorical bus — suggesting President Donald Trump has every right to fire her.

Blanche was fielding reporters’ questions Wednesday about Pirro’s decision to drop charges against the Olympian canoeist and three others whom she accused of vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
Suddenly, Trump’s reputation for axing employees arose.
“What message does it send though if President Trump fires a U.S. attorney because she determined there was not sufficient evidence to charge four people with a crime?” a reporter asked.
“If the president chose to fire a United States attorney, it turns out he’s allowed to do that,” Blanche said.”He’s the president of the United States.”

Blanche couched his comment in praise of Pirro’s office — claiming her prosecutors were responsible for making Washington D.C. a safer place to live — but he did not convince his critics.
Aaron Blake, senior political reporter, suggested Blanche hadn’t exactly gone out of his way to support his underling, who infuriated Trump with her decision not to prosecute.
Blake wrote on X. “This is not the most resounding defense of one of your US attorneys.”
