Trump spoke to reporters at Joint Base Andrews after returning home from attending the Patriot Games. He was asked about the recent report that he switched planes using a snack truck last month as he traveled home from a NATO summit in Turkey in order to avoid a credible threat from Iran.

One reporter asked Trump about the operation, and Trump claimed it was “up to the Secret Service.”

“I just follow what they like to do,” Trump said. “I go by Secret Service and the military. They wanted me to go on a different flight, on a different plane. Equal safety, but they wanted me to do it, so I (sic) do it.”

Another reporter immediately followed up by asking about the nature of the threat.

“I don’t really know,” Trump said. “I get a lot of threats.”

Trump followed up on the number of threats he faces when asked by another reporter.

“I have a lot of threats, a lot of threats that you don’t know about,” he said. “Any consequential president has a lot of threats. Non-consequential presidents don’t get threatened. And I think that I’m maybe the most consequential President.”
