The Department of Education tried to compare President Donald Trump to a tiger, only for community notes to clarify it compared him to Adolf Hitler.

On Wednesday, the Education Department posted a clip from the film “Darkest Hour,” which is about British Prime Minister Winston Churchill facing a threat from Nazi Germany.
The clip featured Churchill, portrayed by Gary Oldman, shouting, “You cannot reason with a tiger when your head is in its mouth.” It then cuts to a montage of Trump smiling and waving, suggesting that he’s the “tiger.”
“No one does it like us,” the top of the post read.
However, the community notes on X pointed out that in the scene clipped from “Darkest Hour,” the “tiger” Churchill is talking about is Hitler.
“This clip is from the film Darkest Hour, and the ‘tiger’ in this clip refers to Adolf Hitler,” the community note reads. Similarly, online reactions made it clear that the Education Department was inadvertently comparing Trump to Hitler.
“Isn’t the ‘tiger’ Churchill is referring to in this clip Nazi Germany?” asked journalist Benjamin Weiss. “The ‘tiger’ being referenced here is Hitler btw,” pointed out influencer Matt Rein.

“The Department of Education in dire need of education,” commented politics professor Matt McManus in a post on X.
“YIKES: The Trump regime tried to make Trump look tough,” the account for the political news network MeidasTouch wrote. “Instead, the Department of Education appears to have accidentally compared him to Hitler.”
“I think the U.S. Department of Education is comparing Trump to Hitler here, but one can never be sure these days,” posted journalist Harrison Faulkner.
Journalist Pedro Gonzalez suggested it was intentional, writing, “the right plays this game where it winks at white supremacists and even fascists. The ‘tiger’ reference in this clip is Hitler, and the dweebs in the Trump-Vance administration are using it to mean Trump.”
Meanwhile, Headquarters news noted, “They fired the employees who help fund teachers and students but kept the taxpayer-funded fancam editor.”
