Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) received an embarrassing fact-check during a local congressional debate Monday night.

Boebert faced off against Democratic challenger Eileen Laubacher in a debate ahead of the midterm election for the Colorado 4th Congressional District seat. During the event, Boebert was asked about her support for President Donald Trump’s decision to attack Iran, and let slip one comment that the moderator simply couldn’t ignore.
“We do not have boots on the ground. I do agree that this is expensive and I hear from Republicans that they want this to come to an end,” Boebert said.
“What are you doing to stop it?” moderator Kyle Clark, a journalist at local news station KUSA-TV, interjected.

“We are having conversations with the Department of War and with the president and his administration on a regular basis about how to come to an end,” Boebert continued, before letting out her most puzzling claim of the exchange. “This was never about regime change, as my opponent thinks. This was about making sure Iran never had a nuclear weapon, and I support that and I support those efforts.”
Clark was quick to correct the record.
“For the record, the president gave shifting rationale for the war. At one point it was regime change. At one point it was the bomb, and there were others in the mix,” Clark said.
