In a video posted by Platner’s campaign, Amy Gertner said she’s feeling “angry” and “disappointed.” According to new reporting by the Wall Street Journal, Gertner told the campaign last August about sexually explicit texts she found on Platner’s phone.

“I find it really shameful that there’s a group of media outlets and people willing to spread gossip instead of talking about real issues that Graham is running on, like health care and education, and child care,” Gertner said. “It’s shameful behavior to spend time and energy and resources on negative ads and negative stories.”

She defended Platner, who’s running to unseat Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME).

“I admire the f— out of him,” Gertner said. “I don’t want a perfect marriage. I want my marriage, and I want to be married to Graham. I knew the man I married is wonderful and dynamic and probably a genius.”

She also spoke about challenges with infertility, saying, “Being newly married, going through infertility, and a Senate campaign is hard,” and describing the situation as “extra s—.”
