\u201cI want to talk about a SINGLE WEEK. This past week,\u201d wrote former Homeland Security senior official Miles Taylor in an analysis<\/u> published on his Substack Tuesday. \u201cIf y\u2019all didn\u2019t sense it, something shifted these past few days, and you can measure it by the headlines.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Trump attacked several of his political adversaries on social media in a late-night posting spree<\/u>. He launched similar attacks<\/u> on social media again the next night. And the reason, Taylor argued, was the president\u2019s unprecedented wave of setbacks he encountered over the previous seven days, setbacks that have sent the president \u201cspiraling.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSix different fronts in the anti-corruption fight in one week,\u201d Taylor wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cA slush fund paused<\/u>\u2026 a president\u2019s name ordered<\/u> off a national landmark\u2026 a lifeline<\/u> thrown to purged FBI agents\u2026 a thousand voices<\/u> on the record against a Trump gag order\u2026 a federal agent in handcuffs<\/u> for Trump\u2019s unconstitutional crackdown\u2026 and a detention camp<\/u> on the brink of closure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump has taken a series of unprecedented \u201closses\u201d in recent days, and from his \u201cown friends and allies<\/u>.\u201d With the primary election season largely finished \u2013 and the threat of facing a Trump-backed challenger mostly gone \u2013 GOP lawmakers are \u201csuddenly finding it advantageous to oppose\u201d the president, Punchbowl News reported<\/u> Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is why Trump is staying up late [at] night and having social-media meltdowns. He sees what\u2019s happening, and he can\u2019t believe that an all-powerful, would-be king is being thwarted like this,\u201d Taylor wrote. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s possible that many of Trump\u2019s henchmen don\u2019t see it yet, as they\u2019re incentivized to give the boss \u2018good news.\u2019 So they\u2019ll pretend the tide is still with them. But on this Tuesday morning, I can confidently say: \u2018It isn\u2019t.\u2019 And if they keep looking the other way, sooner or later they\u2019re going to be washed out to sea.\u201d<\/p>\n
