The in-studio audience for Tuesday night\u2019s\u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d on ABC burst into cheering and raucous applause after the host shared a clip of Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) putting acting Attorney General Todd Blanche in his place earlier in the day.<\/p>\n

According to Kimmel, it was \u201cperfect.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the exchange, the combative Blanche, who landed his current job after Donald Trump dumped his predecessor, Pam Bondi, seemed incredulous that the Maryland Democrat doubted his integrity as he defended the president and the plan for a $1.776 billion \u201cslush fund\u201d for the president’s aggrieved Jan 6 supporters.<\/p>\n

Kimmel introduced the clip (at the 8:47 mark<\/em>) by explaining, \u201cSo Todd Blanche, who was Donald Trump\u2019s personal lawyer, he\u2019s current acting attorney general now, got grilled on this day by the Senate Appropriations Committee.” <\/p>\n

He then added, \u201cThe way they are going to determine who gets the money is with a five person commission, and guess who gets to pick who will be on that commission? That\u2019s right. Trump\u2019s own little Malti-Poo, Todd Blanche.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the clip, Van Hollen is seen speaking to the Trump appointee and admonishing him, \u201cAttorney general, come on. So you\u2019re not going to submit this proposal to any federal judge or independent \u2014.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no judge,\u201d Blanche interrupted before adding, “What does that mean, \u2018independent authority\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNot somebody that is going to pick the five of the members who was Donald Trump\u2019s former personal attorney. That would be somebody who is independent,\u201d Van Hollen fired back.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m the acting attorney general, okay?\u201d Blanche snapped. \u201cThe fact that I used to be President Trump\u2019s lawyer is just a fact. But I\u2019m the acting attorney general, so don\u2019t say the president\u2019s former lawyer will do something. The acting attorney general will do something.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Attorney General, you are acting today like the president\u2019s personal attorney and that is the whole problem,\u201d the Democrat sharply accused.<\/p>\n

The led ABC host Kimmel to smirk as his audience burst into cheers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was amazing,\u201d the comedian stated as he joined the applause. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat was like one of those fake conversations you have with yourself in the shower where you have a perfect comeback, except it happened on TV,\u201d he joked. \u201cGood going, Sen. Chris Van Hollen.\u201d<\/p>\n
