A flier for a fundraiser headlined by President Donald Trump set off a round of online ridicule this weekend once it revealed the price of admission: $1 million per person.<\/p>\n

The invitation, shared on X by Wall Street Journal reporter Alex Leary, advertised a “candlelight dinner” featuring Trump as the “special guest speaker” at Trump National Golf Club outside Washington, D.C. The event is a fundraiser for MAGA Inc., the Trump-aligned super PAC, and the flier notes that space is “very limited.”<\/p>\n

Critics quickly seized on the seven-figure cover charge as a jarring contrast with Trump’s populist, blue-collar branding.<\/p>\n

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), a frequent Trump critic, quote-posted the flier with a single dry line: “A man for the comman [sic] man.”<\/p>\n

Democratic strategist Michelle Kinney, a co-founder of the Mayday Network, offered her own deadpan version: “A man of the people.”<\/p>\n

Jesse Ferguson, a veteran Democratic strategist who served as a top spokesman for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, went after the pay-for-access optics. Sharing the flier, he wrote that the “Trump admin pardon application is below,” then reframed it in a separate post as a federal contracting opportunity: “Interested in a govt contract? Chris Peleo-Lazar, a former Senate staffer who worked in Sen. Dick Durbin’s office, mocked the populist framing from another direction. The complete inaccessibility of “their dear leader,” he wrote, is exactly what the white working class wants \u2014 the thing “every diner interview asked for.”<\/p>\n

The fine print on the invitation insists Trump is appearing “only as a featured speaker” and is “not asking for funds or donations,” language that lets him headline the dinner while the super PAC does the actual fundraising.<\/p>\n

The event is the latest in a string of $1 million-a-plate MAGA Inc. dinners Trump has headlined since returning to office, at venues ranging from Mar-a-Lago to his Virginia golf club. Bloomberg Government reported that the dinner has become a coveted ticket for K Street lobbyists and business interests looking to pad the super PAC’s coffers ahead of the midterm elections.<\/p>\n

The dinner also caps a lavish stretch in Washington. On Sunday, Trump is scheduled to host the first UFC fight on the White House South Lawn, an event that happens to fall on his 80th birthday.<\/p>\n
