MS NOW’s Joe Scarborough highlighted new reporting about the inner workings of President Donald Trump’s White House that will likely become the subjects of criminal prosecutions.<\/p>\n

New York Times correspondents Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan reported that Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller proposed suspending habeas corpus to speed up mass deportations, and both he and Vice President JD Vance pushed the president to invoke the Insurrection Act in Minnesota, and the “Morning Joe” host said those actions were plainly unconstitutional.<\/p>\n

“This was<\/span> after they had<\/span> already gunned down two<\/span> innocent Americans for doing<\/span> just that, for protesting, and<\/span> yet they’re still talking about<\/span> enacting the Insurrection Act,” Scarborough said.<\/span> “They’re still talking about<\/span> suspending habeas corpus<\/span> through this entire period. You<\/span> know, maybe it’s just the<\/span> lawyer in me, but excerpts from<\/span> this book are reading \u2013 whether<\/span> you look at Todd Blanche<\/span> trying to cover up one of the<\/span> biggest pedophile rings in the history of<\/span> America, or you have the vice<\/span> president and Stephen Miller<\/span> talking about habeas corpus,<\/span> suspending habeas corpus, and<\/span> the Insurrection Act.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“That sure <\/span>does look like a place where a<\/span> lot of lawyers in the future<\/span> are going to start discovery in<\/span> their investigations, whether<\/span> it is with a Democratic<\/span> Congress, whether it is with<\/span> prosecutors, because the<\/span> president may try to p<\/span>ardon a lot of people,” Scarborough added. “He’s<\/span> not going to be able to pardon<\/span> the entire government, and<\/span> these just seem<\/span> to be clearly illegal acts or a<\/span> conspiracy to commit illegal<\/span> acts.”<\/span><\/p>\n

White House insiders are already scrambling to deflect previous revelations that came from their forthcoming book, “Regime Change,” which hits the shelves June 23, and Scarborough said this would raise the temperature even further.<\/span><\/p>\n

“No wonder, and I know<\/span> you’ve heard this, like I’ve<\/span> heard this,” Scarborough said, “no wonder the White<\/span> House is melting down over this<\/span> book because there’s so many<\/span> people who are exposed who are<\/span> going to have to hold up their<\/span> right hand at some point and<\/span> take an oath and tell everybody<\/span> what happened behind those<\/span> closed doors, because even the <\/span>glimpse we’re getting from this<\/span> book is ugly.”<\/span><\/p>\n
