Georgia Republicans have chosen the Trump-endorsed candidate, Congressman Mike Collins, to face off in the Senate contest against Democratic incumbent Jon Ossoff, rejecting Gov. Brian Kemp’s pick of former coach Derek Dooley. But they may come to regret that decision soon, MS NOW’s Jen Psaki said on Tuesday’s edition of “The Briefing.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“As<\/span> a member of Congress, Mike<\/span> Collins has used his social<\/span> media presence to offend just<\/span> about everybody he can,” said Psaki. Among other things, she noted,<\/span> “He’s<\/span> posted in support of throwing an immigrant out of a helicopter<\/span>. He posted in<\/span> support of a group of<\/span> counter-protesters harassing a B<\/span>lack protester …<\/span> one of<\/span> whom taunted that Black student<\/span> with monkey noises. He once<\/span> endorsed a post from an<\/span> antisemitic troll who was<\/span> attacking a reporter for being Jewish.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

He has more “horrifying” social media behavior landing him in trouble, Psaki continued \u2014 but all of this is comfortably enough to make him all but unelectable.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Psaki went on to quote a recent lament from a Republican strategist to MS NOW, who said, \u201cIf you went to a laboratory and tried to create the worst general election candidate for this state and environment possible, you couldn\u2019t do better than Mike Collins,\u201d between his “personal baggage” and an absolutist anti-abortion stance. “<\/span>He will lose the<\/span> Atlanta metro in unprecedented<\/span> fashion, and we have to hope he<\/span> doesn’t take everyone else down<\/span> with him,” the strategist said.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

On top of all that, Psaki continued, Collins “is also a notorious election denier” who refuses to accept the outcome of the 2020 presidential election \u2014 which by Trump’s own admission is why he picked Collins over Dooley, who had acknowledged former President Joe Biden carried Georgia.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“That was<\/span> apparently a dealbreaker for<\/span> Trump,” said Psaki. “Of course, Trump did in<\/span> fact lose the state of Georgia<\/span> in the 2020 election, which<\/span> isn’t something I should have<\/span> to keep saying six years later.<\/span> But nevertheless, here we are.”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
