A political analyst was astounded on Sunday as Republican criticism of President Donald Trump’s war with Iran grew louder following the collapse of peace talks in Switzerland. <\/p>\n

David Pakman, host of the “David Pakman Show on YouTube,” reacted to former Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy’s recent appearance on Fox News, where he sharply criticized the alleged deal that the Trump administration struck with the Iranian regime last weekend, in a new episode on Sunday. Gowdy described Trump’s deal as a capitulation, arguing that he released the “economic stranglehold” that the U.S. held over Iran for decades. <\/p>\n

“I thought somebody was spoofing me when I saw what we’re giving up,” Gowdy said. <\/p>\n

Pakman noted that Gowdy isn’t the only Republican who has criticized the deal the Trump administration made, which included immediately allowing Iran to sell oil again in exchange for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. It also delayed talks about Iran’s nuclear program, which was something that former President Barack Obama’s deal with Iran addressed up front. <\/p>\n

“If Obama’s deal was appeasement, what are we calling this?” Pakman said. “It is a major and complete loss, and even Trey Gowdy realizes it.”<\/p>\n

Pakman’s comments came at a time when tensions between Iran and the U.S. seemed to be ramping up again. <\/p>\n

The Iranian regime announced on Saturday that it was closing the Strait again due to ongoing fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. On Sunday, Vice President J.D. Vance was snubbed by the Iranian Foreign Minister during a press event, which some analysts described as humiliating. <\/p>\n
