MS NOW’s Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski cut into a live press conference to call out Vice President JD Vance’s remarks in real time.<\/p>\n

The vice president spoke to reporters Monday morning in Switzerland, where he’s been engaged in high-stakes talks with Iranian officials, and Vance was asked about President Donald Trump’s threats to kill those same Iranian negotiators before they returned home if the Strait of Hormuz remained closed.<\/p>\n

“No, they didn’t throw a<\/span> wrench in the system,” Vance said, when asked about the president’s threats. “The thing<\/span> with the Iranians, yes, they<\/span> did threaten to walk out, or at<\/span> least there were social media<\/span> threats that they would walk<\/span> out. But we were negotiating<\/span> well past 1 in the morning<\/span> yesterday, so they didn’t walk<\/span> out, and their technical team<\/span> is still here in B\u00fcrgenstock,<\/span> working with our technical team,<\/span> actually, as we speak, though,<\/span> I imagine maybe some of them<\/span> are taking a break to watch<\/span> this news conference.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“But look,<\/span> what we told the Iranians<\/span> yesterday is when you guys<\/span> engage in what us millennials<\/span> might call trash talk, you<\/span> can’t expect the president of<\/span> the United States not to<\/span> respond and not to correct the<\/span> record,” Vance continue. “So when they say things<\/span> that aren’t true, the president<\/span> is going to respond to it, I’m<\/span> going to respond to it,<\/span> Americans are going to respond<\/span> to it. When they make threats<\/span> that aren’t rooted in reality,<\/span> they have to accept that the<\/span> president of the United States<\/span> is actually going to set the<\/span> record straight. That’s all<\/span> that happens.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“So, yes, there<\/span> was a little bit of threatening, t<\/span>here was a little bit of<\/span> whining,” the vice president added. “But at the end of the<\/span> day, the talks continued and we<\/span> made great progress.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The “Morning Joe” hosts interrupted to react to Vance’s excuses for the president’s threats.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Wow,” Brzezinski said.<\/p>\n

“While he waits for the next<\/span> question,” Scarborough said, “w<\/span>e will be talking …<\/span> about how every<\/span> statement from the Trump<\/span> administration is either<\/span> projection or confession. That<\/span> certainly was the case on that<\/span> last preposterous answer about<\/span> accusing the Iranians of, quote,<\/span> trash talk destroying<\/span> civilizations.”<\/span><\/p>\n
