Freelance journalist Amanda Moore published video of the Reflecting Pool that appears to show a “surveillance machine,\u201d as Moore described it, relaying an audible message to those passing by the water\u2019s edge.<\/p>\n

\u201cLoitering is not permitted in this area. Please proceed to a designated location. Thank you for your cooperation,\u201d a voice could be heard in the video being broadcast.<\/p>\n

The reactions were swift. John Ganz, an author and writer, called the scene at the Reflecting Pool a \u201cdystopian satire.\u201d MeidasTouch Editor-in-Chief Ron Filipkowski said<\/u> the video appeared \u201cOrwellian,\u201d and tennis legend Martina Navratilova argued the scene perfectly encapsulated President Donald Trump\u2019s tenure in the White House.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything Trump touches, dies,\u201d Navratilova wrote Saturday in a social media post on X to her nearly 500,000 followers. \u201cThis reflecting pool makes it quite clear. Even with all the algae [that\u2019s in] it.\u201d<\/p>\n

A number of other critics commented on the absurdity of \u201cloitering\u201d being prohibited at the Reflecting Pool.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey turned the Lincoln Memorial into a Lowe’s parking lot,\u201d wrote<\/u> journalist Goad Gatsby.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo reflection permitted at the reflecting pool,\u201d wrote<\/u> Adam Klasfeld, editor-in-chief of All Rise News.<\/p>\n
