New Mexico Democratic Attorney General Ra\u00fal Torrez has accused the Trump administration\u2019s Justice Department (DOJ) of “causing real and escalating harm\u201d over its continued stonewalling of state officials’ investigation into Jeffrey Epstein\u2019s New Mexico property, The New York Times revealed<\/u> Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe U.S.D.O.J.\u2019s continued withholding of unredacted records is causing real and escalating harm,\u201d Torrez wrote in a letter sent last week addressed to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, made public on Thursday.<\/p>\n

A New Mexico legislative committee launched<\/u> its own investigation<\/u> into Epstein\u2019s New Mexico property last month, which was reportedly central to the disgraced financier\u2019s disturbing plan<\/u> to \u201cseed the human race with his DNA,\u201d and is also alleged to be the burial site of \u201ctwo foreign girls,” according to an released this year by the DOJ.<\/p>\n

According to the Times, Torrez has reached out to the DOJ nearly half-a-dozen times over the past five months requesting original documents related to Epstein\u2019s New Mexico property, formerly known as Zorro Ranch and now owned by the family of Don Huffines, a wealthy Texas businessman who was recently appointed<\/u> as Texas comptroller. <\/p>\n

He has yet to receive a single response, the Times reported, potentially crippling New Mexico officials\u2019 investigation.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery day that the USDOJ withholds these records, the foundation upon which a New Mexico prosecution could be built erodes,\u201d Torrez\u2019s letter to Blanche reads. \u201cWitnesses relocate and become unreachable. Memories, already strained by years of trauma, fade further. Physical and documentary evidence degrades, is lost, or is rendered more difficult to authenticate with the passage of time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The DOJ refuted Torrez\u2019s claims, telling CNN<\/u> that the agency \u201csubstantively responded last month to requests from the New Mexico Attorney General\u2019s Office.\u201d<\/p>\n

Investigations into Epstein\u2019s New Mexico property were underway in 2019 before being abruptly shut down at the request<\/u> of the Trump administration\u2019s DOJ.<\/p>\n
