A U.S. official made a startling admission regarding the Trump administration\u2019s ongoing military operation against suspected drug traffickers in the Caribbean \u2014 one that suggests the entire operation is a ruse.<\/p>\n

As the U.S. war against Iran continues to dominate news headlines, the Trump administration\u2019s boat bombings in the Caribbean have continued and, in recent months, quietly ramped up<\/u>, killing at least 221 people<\/u> as of late May. Accused of being illegal<\/u> by several legal scholars and lawmakers, the operation \u2014 according to the Trump administration \u2014 is designed to halt the flow of narcotics to the United States.<\/p>\n

However, according to one U.S. official who spoke with Zeteo under the condition of anonymity, the Trump administration \u201cknows\u201d the operation \u201cisn\u2019t working,\u201d the outlet reported<\/u> Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s murder for murder\u2019s sake,\u201d the U.S. official told Zeteo. \u201cIf the mission is to stop the flow of drugs into our country, I can\u2019t find anyone in this building who believes this is helping.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another official, described by Zeteo as a \u201csenior administration official,\u201d told the outlet that some in the Trump White House have stopped asking for updates on the operation entirely.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt sometimes seems like even the MAGA true-believers in government aren\u2019t buying what they\u2019re feverishly selling to the American public,\u201d Zeteo reported. <\/p>\n

\u201cFor instance, one senior administration official says that within the past several months, some White House officials who had previously asked for updates on these stats and numbers suddenly stopped asking for data on whether, as this official says, \u2018it\u2019s working.\u2019 Because, the senior official adds, \u2018people know it\u2019s not actually designed to end the fentanyl crisis.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Recent data supports the officials\u2019 claims. According to Customs and Border Protection drug seizure data<\/u>, fentanyl interdiction was on track to drop by 6.3% in fiscal year 2026, a decrease described<\/u> by Cronkite News as \u201ctoo modest for critics to give [President Donald Trump] credit for solving the chronic problem.\u201d<\/p>\n
