President Donald Trump drew an unlikely comparison to a certain Disney princess from CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten on Thursday.<\/p>\n

This comparison came after the 80-year-old imposed 50 percent tariffs on most Canadian goods in retaliation for what he calls unfair discrimination against American autos, alcohol and dairy products, despite a Supreme Court ruling in February throwing out most of his tariffs from last year.<\/p>\n

Enten told “CNN News Central” that Trump’s trade wars remained globally unpopular.<\/p>\n

“I feel like I’m in bizarro<\/span> world, okay, because the<\/span> definition of insanity is to<\/span> keep doing the same thing over<\/span> and over again and hope for a<\/span> different result,” Enten said. “That is<\/span> just, simply put, not been the<\/span> case with President Trump in<\/span> terms of the train has left the<\/span> station and the American people<\/span> have spoken. They hate, hate,<\/span> hate these new tariffs.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Back in November 2024, when Trump was re-elected 52 percent of Americans favored new tariffs on imported goods, compared with 48 percent who opposed them \u2013 but those numbers have shifted dramatically, Enten said. <\/span><\/p>\n

“Then we entered the<\/span> real world in tariffs, and A<\/span>mericans saw the effects of<\/span> them,” Enten said. “What happened to the<\/span> opposition to new tariffs, up<\/span> like a rocket \u2013 we’re talking<\/span> 63 percent of Americans now oppose the<\/span> idea of new tariffs, compared to<\/span> just 37 percent who favor it. “<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>“The American<\/span> people have seen what tariffs<\/span> have done to the economy, and<\/span> they simply do not like it,” he added, “and<\/span> have turned against the<\/span> president of United States who,<\/span> as I said, it feels like bizarro<\/span> world because from a political<\/span> standpoint, it is absolutely<\/span> insanity. They keep trying to<\/span> do something that the American<\/span> people clearly, very much do not<\/span> like.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Trump’s trade war last year sent his poll numbers into a downward trajectory from which they’ve yet to recover, Enten noted. <\/span><\/p>\n

“The tariffs were what set Donald<\/span> Trump off on a pathway to<\/span> nowhere, on a pathway to a<\/span> presidency that is a dead end,” Enten said. “<\/span>Take a look at this \u2013 Trump’s<\/span> negative net approval rating<\/span> every single poll since March<\/span> 29, 2025, that is over a year<\/span> ago. In fact, days in a row,<\/span> it’s 482 days in which every<\/span> single poll that meets CNN<\/span> standards for publication,<\/span> Donald Trump has had a negative<\/span> net approval rating.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Trump and his tariffs are just as unpopular in other countries, Enten argued.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Trump has been under<\/span> underwater so long on tariffs<\/span> both here and abroad that the<\/span> bottom line is this,” he said. “It’s almost<\/span> like he is the Little Mermaid.<\/span> He just doesn’t even come up for<\/span> air anymore!”<\/span><\/p>\n
