Critics have increasingly questioned the silence<\/u> of Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) regarding reports that his daughter, Emily Moreno, was allegedly abused<\/u> by her husband, Rep. Max Miller (R-OH), but on Friday, a Democratic strategist said they believe they’ve figured out why.<\/p>\n

\u201cTHIS is why Bernie Moreno has been silent,\u201d wrote Democratic strategist Ally Sammarco, founder of ARS Media, in a social media post<\/u> Friday on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn March 2024, the AP reported<\/u> that he used a work email to create a dating profile looking for gay sex. Max Miller has some dirt on him.\u201d<\/p>\n

After reviewing a \u201cmassive and well-publicized data breach\u201d of a \u201ccasual sexual encounters website\u201d known as Adult Friend Finder, the Associated Press discovered<\/u> an account created using Moreno\u2019s email account with the username \u201cnardo19672,\u201d which the outlet noted \u201cappears to refer to Moreno\u2019s full first name, Bernardo, as well as the year and month of his birth in February 1967.\u201d The user indicated they were seeking \u201cMen for 1-on-1 sex.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moreno has exhibited animosity toward the LGBTQ community, accusing<\/u> LGBTQ advocates of pushing “radical” agendas of \u201cindoctrination,\u201d a radical shift from his previously seemingly pro-LGBTQ positions that began with his first bid for Senate in 2021.<\/p>\n

Miller, Moreno\u2019s ex-son-in-law, has been accused<\/u> of physically abusing his ex-wife, Moreno\u2019s daughter. Miller was alleged to have beaten her, held a gun to her head and thrown boiling water on her, claims Miller has previously denied<\/u>.<\/p>\n

Recent reporting has also revealed that Miller had \u201cimplicitly threatened\u201d Moreno, Mother Jones reported<\/u>, via an alleged text message uncovered in court records.<\/p>\n

\u201cTake this however you want, everyone is going to get to know you better than your wife does,\u201d Miller allegedly wrote to Moreno, according to Mother Jones. \u201cEnjoy the ride brother, I wouldn\u2019t have to do this if you could keep your lying daughter under control.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moreno\u2019s alleged profile on Adult Friend Finder, coupled with Miller\u2019s alleged threats toward his ex-father-in-law, led a number of notable figures to concur with Sammarco\u2019s theory.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo wonder Republicans do nothing with total control of the federal government!\u201d wrote Grant Stern, executive editor of Occupy Democrats, in a social media post<\/u> on X. \u201cThey’re too busy extorting, wife beating, and cheating.\u201d<\/p>\n

Martina Navratilova, a professional tennis icon, argued that Sammarco\u2019s theory \u201cexplains a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSeems there is a lot of closeted gay men in the GOP \u2013 shame on their hypocrisy,\u201d she wrote<\/u>.<\/p>\n

Democratic strategist Mike Nellis<\/u> largely expressed confusion over Moreno\u2019s silence regarding the alleged abuse of his own daughter.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don’t understand Bernie Moreno at all,\u201d Nellis wrote<\/u>. \u201cIf you harmed a hair on my kid’s head, I would crawl through broken glass to beat your a– and care very little about the consequences. This guy can’t even say that his daughter’s attacker shouldn’t run for reelection.\u201d<\/p>\n

And Claude Taylor, a Democratic political activist and former White House staffer under the Clinton administration, took an especially sharp dig at Moreno, referencing his recent attack<\/u> on Anthony Fauci.<\/p>\n

\u201cRather than disrespecting Dr Fauci, [Moreno] should respect that Anthony Fauci was a pioneer in the 1980 battle against AIDS,\u201d Taylor wrote<\/u>. \u201cAs a closeted gay man he should appreciate that fact.\u201d<\/p>\n
