MS NOW host Ari Melber was left in disbelief Saturday after prominent Democratic strategist James Carville dropped a bold prediction about President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don’t think Trump matters that much anymore. I think he’s a washed up, fat, old man,\u201d Carville said, appearing on MS NOW\u2019s \u201cThe Beat: Weekend\u201d program. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think he’s gonna have a massive loss in November, and I’ve said this repeatedly: I think he’s going to walk away. I don’t think he’s capable of leading this country, I don’t think he has the energy, I don’t think he has the intellect.\u201d<\/p>\n

A visibly taken aback Melber asked Carville to expand on his remarks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat does ‘walk away’ mean?” Melber asked. \u201cAre you trolling? You’re trolling. You think he’s gonna quit?\u201d<\/p>\n

Carville confidently reiterated his prediction, clarifying that he did, in fact, believe Trump was poised to \u201cwalk away\u201d from his presidential duties out of fear of facing a \u201cmassive\u201d electoral defeat.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, ‘Walk Away Ren\u00e9e<\/u>,’ you’re too young to remember that song, but it was a great song. He is going to walk away!\u201d Carville claimed. \u201cHe is not skilled enough, he is not tough enough, he is not going to be able to deal with the massive defeat coming his way!\u201d<\/p>\n

Carville’s prediction of a rough November for Republicans lines up with recent polling.<\/p>\n

Democrats have held a lead<\/u> of 3 to 4 points on the generic congressional ballot every week since spring, a reversal from a nearly 3-point GOP lead<\/u> in January 2025. Trump’s approval rating has also reached historic lows<\/u> and remains weak among independents and Latino voters. A PBS\/NPR\/Marist survey<\/u> found an even wider gap, with Democrats leading by double digits and independents breaking heavily their way, findings echoed by other recent surveys aggregated by RealClearPolitics.<\/p>\n
