Journalist and political strategist Christopher Armitage expressed frustration Monday over a \u201cvery illegal act\u201d allegedly committed by ex-Attorney General Pam Bondi, as well as how holding her to account remained \u201ca single subpoena\u201d away.<\/p>\n

The act in question was Bondi\u2019s sale of Trump media securities in April of 2025 \u2013 sales that she made just \u201chours\u201d before Trump announced his so-called reciprocal tariffs that immediately \u201csank the stock she had just left,\u201d Armitage wrote in an analysis<\/u> published Monday on his Substack, The Existentialist Republic.<\/p>\n

According to Armitage, Bondi sold \u201cas much as $5.5 million\u201d worth of Trump media securities, and as of August, 14 months after the incident, no case has been opened against Bondi on suspicion of insider trading.<\/p>\n

\u201cMartha Stewart went to federal prison for something smaller than this. Her case grew out of a stock sale worth $45,673,\u201d Armitage wrote. <\/p>\n

\u201cShe sold her ImClone shares in December 2001, one day before bad news about the company went public, and the government convicted her in 2004, not for the trade itself but for lying to the investigators who questioned her about it. She served five months. Stewart was no ordinary citizen either. She was rich, famous, and connected, and none of it stopped the prosecution.”<\/p>\n

Bondi\u2019s disclosure forms document her sale of as much as $5.5 million worth of Trump securities, but only include a broad range of the amount of shares sold and the sale date. As argued by Armitage, other telling details of the sale could be obtained with a single legal maneuver.<\/p>\n

\u201cHer disclosure form records the date of the sale and nothing else. It does not record the time, the price, or what she knew,\u201d Armitage wrote. \u201cBroker execution records answer the first two, and the first two are evidence of the third. A single subpoena would produce them. The federal government has not issued that subpoena.\u201d<\/p>\n

Furthermore, state officials are also capable of probing Bondi\u2019s stock trades for evidence of insider trading, a tool that can circumvent potential stonewalling by the Trump administration, Armitage argued.<\/p>\n

\u201cNew York State can still charge this,\u201d he wrote. \u201cNo pardon can stop it, no attorney general can quash it.\u201d<\/p>\n
