{"id":5869,"date":"2026-08-11T17:21:45","date_gmt":"2026-08-11T17:21:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/propertyrelocationusa.com\/?p=5869"},"modified":"2026-08-11T17:21:45","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T17:21:45","slug":"anger-as-ice-dances-around-judges-demand-to-reveal-polling-place-plans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/propertyrelocationusa.com\/?p=5869","title":{"rendered":"Anger as ICE dances around judge&#8217;s demand to reveal polling place plans"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>Nearly 10 months after Democrats demanded records of ICE\u2019s plans for deploying agents to polling places, the agency has turned over 576 pages of press clippings.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/propertyrelocationusa.com\/?p=5867\">Trump\u2019s Thune feud backfires as Republicans flock to Senate leader\u2019s side<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The batch of useless \u2014 and already easily accessible \u2014 documents produced by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by the Democratic National Committee represents the agency\u2019s efforts to comply with an order issued by Judge Beryl A Howell last month to produce 1,000 pages per month.<\/p>\n<p>By handing over a stack of press clippings compiled for the Department of Homeland Security\u2019s \u201cdaily briefing,\u201d ICE \u201chas circumvented the court\u2019s orders\u201d and is hiding its plans from the public, the DNC argued in a  submitted to the court late on Friday. <\/p>\n<p>The DNC noted that its FOIA request specifically asks ICE to exclude stand-alone news articles and press clippings that don\u2019t contain discussion by agency officials.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Vaden  the court in response that he was calling \u201cICE\u2019s attention to the proviso,\u201d but he rejected the DNC\u2019s charge that the agency is \u201cqueuing\u2026 nonresponsive documents before responsive ones\u201d to hide its plans.<\/p>\n<p>ICE did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment for this story.<\/p>\n<p>ICE has repeatedly frustrated efforts to uncover internal discussions, despite public statements by Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin and Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche that they are open to deploying agents to polling places. A statement by Homeland Security to Raw Story last month went even further by saying the government wouldn\u2019t rule out arrests at polling places in response to \u201can active public safety threat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/propertyrelocationusa.com\/?p=5865\">Trump\u2019s crazed fantasy unleashes a chaos he cannot control<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The hundreds of pages of press clippings delivered by ICE as its first batch of documents produced in response to the DNC request came after the agency gave itself an extra week to meet the monthly quota set by Howell.<\/p>\n<p>Noting that the agency had not produced \u201ca single page of responsive materials\u201d in response to the DNC\u2019s October 2025 request despite the fact that the 2026 midterms were less than four months away, Howell\u2019s July 13 order directed ICE \u201cto immediately begin processing\u201d responsive materials \u201cat a rate of at least 1,000 pages per month, including the month of July.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The government  the court last month that ICE was setting Aug. 7 as a deadline \u201cso as to include a greater number of responsive, non-exempt records\u201d in its first production.<\/p>\n<p>The flood of useless documents also comes after ICE initially told the DNC in early June that it had zero responsive records, prompting the Democrats to  the agency of \u201ca remarkable lack of diligence.\u201d In response, the DNC flagged news reports about the presence of ICE agents at polling places in Texas and California during primary elections in those states in May and June, respectively, along with Mullin\u2019s testimony during his Senate confirmation hearing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShockingly, ICE agents also entered an active polling place in New York to confront a poll worker over a month-old Instagram post addressing the killing of Renee Good,\u201d DNC lawyers said in a filing calling the government\u2019s bluff.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/propertyrelocationusa.com\/?p=5862\">Scheme hatched to haul Trump out of office as top lawyers zero in on under-the-radar law<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nearly 10 months after Democrats demanded records of ICE\u2019s plans for deploying agents to polling places, the agency has turned over 576 pages of press clippings.The batch of useless \u2014 and already easily accessible \u2014 documents produced by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in response to a Free&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":5868,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-5869","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-investigation"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 -
