CNN host Audie Cornish had to break up an argument on-air Wednesday morning as pundits hurled insults over the value of President Donald Trump’s endorsement.<\/p>\n

Anti-trans activist Terry Schilling spurred the heated debate when he questioned why Trump had thrown his support behind scandal-plagued candidates in GOP primaries. <\/p>\n

“Look, I don’t know much<\/span> about Chuck Edwards \u2013 oh, I actually do,” Schilling said, referring to a former North Carolina congressman who dropped out of his race over sexual misconduct allegations. “<\/span>Yeah, well, look,<\/span> [Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN), I don’t think<\/span> the campaign finance violations<\/span> had anything to do with [his primary loss]. I<\/span> think those are other things.<\/span> But, look, [Rep.] Cory Mills (R-FL) deserved<\/span> to lose. He should have lost.<\/span> Trump never should have endorsed<\/span> him.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Democratic strategist Antjuan Seawright interrupted to underline the fact that Trump had endorsed Mills despite allegations of sexual misconduct and domestic violence against him, and he said that was part of a pattern.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The<\/span> president endorsed him, he<\/span> endorsed Ken Paxton, he’s<\/span> standing by [Rep.] Max Miller (R-OH),” Seawright said. “So<\/span> there’s consistent pattern of<\/span> behavior from this president and<\/span> the serious allegations. Quite<\/span> frankly, I know Democrats who<\/span> have resigned from their seat,<\/span> who’ve been dismissed from<\/span> their seats for less serious<\/span> allegations, and I think the<\/span> party of family values have some<\/span> serious evaluations to do.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Schilling begged to differ.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I just think you’re doing<\/span> yourself a disservice to not<\/span> distinguish between those<\/span> people,” Schilling interjected. “Ken Paxton stands a far<\/span> and above all those other<\/span> candidates because he’s been a<\/span> conservative warrior.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Seawright was incredulous, and he asked whether Paxton’s political bona fides outweighed his indictment for securities fraud, bribery allegations, impeachment and acquittal and marital infidelity.<\/p>\n

“So you’re saying so you’re saying Ken Paxton, with all of his baggage\u2013” Seawright said.<\/p>\n

Schilling cut in: “What I’m saying is voters care about what you’re going to do in office.”<\/p>\n

“I just want to make sure I<\/span> hear you clearly,” Seawright snapped back. “You’re saying<\/span> Ken Paxton with all of his<\/span> baggage. You’re saying that<\/span> does not matter, just based on his conservative record?”<\/span><\/p>\n

“Yes, absolutely,” Schilling insisted.<\/span> “What we are saying is that<\/span> what we care about is the<\/span> results we get while in office.”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span> “So you<\/span> don’t care about the affairs?” Seawright laughed.<\/span> “You don’t care about the baggage?”<\/span><\/p>\n

“Guys \u2013 pause,” Cornish cut in. “<\/span>Lucky for you, this Congress, t<\/span>here’s a spectrum between<\/span> biblical divorce, outright<\/span> domestic violence, and a lot in<\/span> between, and unfortunately, in<\/span> this, I don’t know what to call<\/span> it \u2013 dirtbag primary. There are<\/span> a lot of people who have<\/span> allegations of one kind or <\/span>another, and sexual misconduct<\/span> against women.”<\/span><\/p>\n
