In a court filing late Tuesday, an ex officio member of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts board accused President Donald Trump\u2019s administration of damaging the building.<\/p>\n

According to a link provided by attorney Norm Eisen, Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-OH) asked the court to intercede on her behalf as the fight over control of the cultural center continues.<\/p>\n

At issue, Beatty contends, is an apparent admission that the Trump-appointed board believes there needs to be some repair work after Trump’s name was stripped from the building by court order.<\/p>\n

In her legal brief, Beatty’s lawyers said, \u201cPlaintiff is concerned that Defendants may have damaged the historic marble that lines the facade with their original desecration of the Center\u2019s facade by attaching President Trump\u2019s name above President Kennedy\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her brief pointed to a mention by the board that they are conducting an \u201cevaluation to determine the extent of remediation required following removal of President Trump\u2019s name.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Eisen on X, \u201cThe govt now says it may have damaged the Kennedy Center’s historic marble & still the board wants Trump’s name back up, in defiance of a federal court order[.] This is petty, performative obstruction.\u201d<\/p>\n
