President Donald Trump’s approval ratings on the most pressing issues are sinking underwater with Republican voters, according to a new data analysis.<\/p>\n

The 79-year-old president was re-elected in 2024 largely due to his promise to bring down the cost of living, but affordability remains the top voter concern as gas prices have exploded as a result of Trump’s war against Iran, and CNN’s Harry Enten found that even Republicans are unhappy.<\/p>\n

“You know, we’re<\/span> talking about houses,” Enten said,<\/span> “and what are we talking<\/span> about? We’re talking about a<\/span> complete collapse of the floor.<\/span> Look at this: Republicans’ net<\/span> approval of Trump on inflation. <\/span>You know, you go back when he<\/span> was running for re-election back<\/span> in 2024 for term number one.<\/span> Look at that net approval<\/span> rating: It was plus-68 points in<\/span> terms of how they viewed,<\/span> Republicans viewed inflation and<\/span> Trump in term number one. Look<\/span> at this, look at this collapse,<\/span> minus-five points. Now this is<\/span> just the Ipsos polling, I will<\/span> note, but look at this. Even in<\/span> Fox he was at minus-two points, s<\/span>o it’s not alone.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“He is on the<\/span> wrong side of the ledger, and<\/span> this is not voters overall, let<\/span> me remind you, this is Republican<\/span> voters,” Enten added. “That call absolutely<\/span> coming from inside the house on<\/span> the key issue inflation. There<\/span> are now multiple polls showing<\/span> that Donald Trump is underwater<\/span> within his own Republican Party.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Concerns about gas prices are fueling this drop in support, Enten said.<\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s Republicans who are<\/span> calling again, and they are<\/span> saying that they are underwater<\/span> again when it comes to this<\/span> particular issue,” Enten said. “Look at gas<\/span> prices, okay, GOP Trump net<\/span> approval on fuel and gas prices.<\/span> You go back to last summer, look<\/span> at this, it was plus-51. Look at<\/span> it now, minus-four. Again, what<\/span> are we talking about here? We’re<\/span> talking about a 55-point shift<\/span> away from the president of the<\/span> United States on the key issue<\/span> of gas prices. So on, again,<\/span> something that is impacting<\/span> Americans day to day, inflation, a<\/span> part of that is gas prices. Of<\/span> course, the inflation on gas<\/span> prices has been out of control.”<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>“The president of United States<\/span> is underwater on the key issue<\/span> of gas prices,” he added. “This isn’t just<\/span> something about the center of<\/span> the electorate, this is with<\/span> Donald Trump’s base as well. <\/span>This is a huge shift. He’s<\/span> underwater again, the floor<\/span> completely collapsing<\/span> underneath.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Those shifts have come in the past year alone, he pointed out.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We’re talking about the<\/span> collapsing floor, but, you know,<\/span> if this is an old ruddy house<\/span> that we don’t really care<\/span> about, then who really cares?” Enten said.<\/span> “But this is the house that is<\/span> most important because you take<\/span> a look here, okay, Republicans’<\/span> top issue, the economy and the<\/span> cost of living. You know, you go<\/span> back to the beginning of this<\/span> year, it was 43 percent. It was the top<\/span> issue. Now it’s even more of<\/span> the top issue.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“The clear<\/span> majority of Republicans saying<\/span> the economy and the cost of<\/span> living is the number-one issue,<\/span> an issue on which Donald<\/span> Trump’s numbers are absolutely<\/span> falling through the floor,” Enten added.<\/span> “Multiple polls showing him<\/span> underwater on inflation.”<\/span><\/p>\n
