A Donald Trump-endorsed Republican Senate candidate was busted for using artificial intelligence to generate social media posts denouncing data centers.<\/p>\n

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton endorsed a pause on the construction of data centers introduced by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott in response to the growing backlash against AI and the infrastructure needed to power the tech, and the GOP Senate nominee introduced his own four-point plan on the issue.<\/p>\n

“My Texas First Data Center Plan will protect our grid, our communities, and our children while ensuring America beats Communist China in the AI race,” Paxton posted. “Texas First. Always.”<\/p>\n

Paxton’s proposal would prohibit the use of Chinese technology to power data centers and hold them criminally liable if they use AI chatbots to undermine child safety, and he pledged to co-sponsor the DATA Act that has been stalled all year in a Senate committee.<\/p>\n

His opponent, Democratic Texas State Rep. James Talarico, questioned Paxton’s motives and sincerity, pointing out that he had refused to use his authority as attorney general to block data center construction in communities that opposed them, and other critics pointed out that his post was created using AI.<\/p>\n

“My AI Regulation Plan \u2014 brought to you by AI,” posted Zeteo’s Prem Thakker.<\/p>\n

“A data center plan made with AI, you simply love to see it,” noted pollster Adam Carlson.<\/p>\n

“Texas Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton shared his plan today focused on data center regulation, and his post about it carries a ‘made with AI’ disclaimer,” marveled KXAN’s Will Dupree.<\/p>\n
