U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee was condemned Saturday for ignoring a brutal attack on an American news crew that occurred earlier that same day.<\/p>\n

A crew of three NBC News correspondents was reporting from the occupied West Bank on Saturday near the Palestinian village of Jalud when a vehicle accelerated toward them with Israeli license plates, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey jumped out, beat us, then jumped back in the car,\u201d said NBC News correspondent Matt Bradley, who the outlet notes was \u201chit twice in the arm and later treated at a nearby clinic.\u201d <\/p>\n

Aida Ahmed Abdullah, a Palestinian woman being interviewed by the NBC News crew, was also injured in the attack.<\/p>\n

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a vague <\/span>statement<\/u> Saturday condemning the attacks, calling them \u201cacts of violence\u201d that harm \u201cIsrael\u2019s standing in the world,\u201d though did not mention that Americans were attacked in the incident.<\/span><\/p>\n

Responding to Netanyahu and other Israeli officials\u2019 remarks, Huckabee called<\/u> them \u201cstrong statements,\u201d but similarly made no mention of the attack on Americans. He also called on the Palestinian Authority to \u201cjoin in condemning violence against Israel by Palestinians.\u201d<\/p>\n

Huckabee’s ignoring of an attack on Americans left several critics outraged.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is literally nothing in this statement to indicate that it\u2019s the U.S. ambassador to Israel talking about Israeli violence against Americans,\u201d wrote Jasper Nathaniel, a journalist known for his coverage of the West Bank and Israeli settler violence, in a social media post<\/u> on X. \u201cReads entirely like a statement by an Israeli official.\u201d<\/p>\n

Journalist and NBC News contributor Hooman Majd further suggested Huckabee\u2019s allegiance was stronger to Israel rather than the United States, and urged the Trump administration official to \u201cprotect American citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou’re the American ambassador, not the spokesman for the Israeli government,\u201d Majd wrote in a social media post<\/u> on X. \u201cRather than congratulating the IDF and the Israeli FM, take a moment to protect American citizens trying to do their job.\u201d<\/p>\n

Foreign policy analyst Trita Parsi went as far as to suggest that Israeli officials knew in advance that Huckabee \u201cwouldn\u2019t lift a finger\u201d in defense of the victimized Americans.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you read about [the] members of an NBC News Team being beaten by Israeli settlers today in the West Bank, it’s important to note two things: The [settlers] wouldn’t do this to Americans had they not received a green light from the Israeli gov,\u201d Parsi wrote<\/u>. \u201c[And], Israel’s gov would not have given such a green light unless it felt confident that the US gov \u2014 and Amb. Huckabee \u2014 wouldn’t lift a finger to defend the Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Huckabee has appeared to endorse<\/u> the idea of \u201cGreater Israel\u201d in the past, with \u201cGreater Israel\u201d referring to the territorial aspirations of some Israelis to significantly expand the nation\u2019s borders. Netanyahu \u2014 who was indicted<\/u> by the International Criminal Court for war crimes \u2014 said as recently as last August that he \u201cabsolutely<\/u>\u201d subscribed to a \u201cvision\u201d for \u201cGreater Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n

So when you read about eight members of an NBC News Team being beaten by Israeli settlers today in the West Bank, it’s important to note two things:<\/p>\n
