President Donald Trump erupted Sunday in a lengthy rant against Canada amid the ongoing trade war between Washington and Ottawa, a dispute that experts warn could soon \u201cspiral\u201d and cost tens of thousands of jobs<\/u>, or more.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want Canadian cars, I don\u2019t want Canadian parts, I don\u2019t want Canadian anything. They\u2019ve been ripping us off for decades, and it\u2019s going to stop,\u201d Trump wrote<\/u> on his social media platform Truth Social. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis should have happened long ago with other Presidents, just as stopping Iran should have happened long ago. They want to be treated like a State, but they aren\u2019t one. I deal with the Leadership of many Countries, but I find Canada to be the worst. They are entitled no longer!\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump imposed a 50% tariff<\/u> on $20 billion of Canadian goods earlier this month after Canadian officials refused to cave to his administration\u2019s demands, which Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney claimed<\/u> would have stripped Canada of its sovereignty as it relates to its ability to trade with other nations.<\/p>\n

Carney has responded by vowing to match Trump\u2019s tariffs \u201cdollar for dollar,\u201d with Canadian tariffs on U.S. goods appearing specifically designed to target states \u201cwith competitive midterm elections\u201d for maximum pressure, CBS News reported<\/u>.<\/p>\n

In a follow-up post<\/u>, Trump urged \u201call” Canadian companies to move to the United States \u201cimmediately\u201d to avoid his new tariffs.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany of them are Companies that moved out years ago due to stupid U.S. Leadership,\u201d Trump wrote. \u201cWhen you move back, there are no TARIFFS!\u201d<\/p>\n
