Approximately 15 minutes into Donald Trump’s rambling televised Cabinet meeting, MS NOW host Chris Jansing and her producers pulled the plug and called out the president for his boasts and lies about his direct-to-consumer drug program.<\/p>\n

As the president jumped from topic to topic, the he eventually boasted, \u201cYou remember, some of you were at the news conference I had my first term where I got the prices down one eighth of a percent, one quarter, one eighth of a percent, my first term and I’m so proud of it because prices, drug prices hadn’t come down in 28 years. And I was the first one to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut now I’m getting them down, not one eighth of a percent. I’m getting them down 400, 500, 600, or if you want to use it a different way, you could say 70 percent, 80 percent, 90 percent, 50 percent \u2014 nobody’s ever seen anything like it and I got that through,\u201d he continued. \u201cWell, everybody knew it was taking place, but we paid the highest prices anywhere in the world. Now we’re paying the lowest prices anywhere in the world, and the press refuses to write about it. I think it’s the biggest thing. And for health care, you know, so much of it is prescription drug prices and drug prices. And with them coming down, the health care is going to come down very substantially.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe recently added nearly 1000 low-cost generics too, as I said, and that’s, you know, 1000 drugs,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd it’s — this was not a \u2014 this was not given by me. This was given by Dr. Oz and Bobby [Kennedy Jr.] and I, you know, wasn’t sure whether or not I loved the idea, but they said, \u2018We want to use Trump,’ TrumpRX.gov is what it is and it’s the hottest site, I think, anywhere on the planet, from what I understand, Bobby. Right? It’s really great. People are calling up and they’re buying drugs for a fraction, for literally a fraction of the price, and it should be the biggest, and on that alone, we should win the midterms.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moments later MS NOW\u2019s Jansing called a halt to the coverage.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to continue to listen in on the president,\u201d she interjected. \u201cIt has already been replete with factual errors, misstatements and how TrumpRX is the hottest site, which is not only not true, but it is very limited in the number of drugs it provides and who it provides them to. You have to be a cash payer or someone who is uninsured, for example; if you are Medicare or Medicaid, it is a whole different thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
