The frustration was reportedly over the appearance of the new 100-foot-wide granite seal and slope of the White House lawn, The Washington Post reported. Crews were reportedly working around the clock to prepare for a visit from Chinese President Xi Jinping next month.
“The White House’s South Lawn, where the helipad is being built, slants downward. Trump has expressed a desire for a landing pad that sits level with the horizon, prompting contractors to disassemble their work and consider whether to start by changing the lawn itself,” sources told The Post.
Social media users commented on Trump’s decision and suggested it could be due to other circumstances, not just the design.
“Trump is literally the dumbest and most ridiculous president ever. Changing the slope of the white house lawn will cause problems, and all because Trump did not want to walk as far,” Zak Williams, political consultant at Zenith Strategies, wrote on Bluesky.

“Because a helipad is of the utmost importance right now for the President of the United States. It’s not like he has a war going on, GDP growth at 1.5%, the 30 year is at the highest level since 2007 and mortgage rates are likely going to 7.5%. A helipad, guys. How are we not all super duper concerned that the rich fat baby isn’t getting even more of what he wants? How dare we be concerned about healthcare, housing, or groceries at a time like this?!” Designer Camille McKenzie wrote on X.
