CNN’s Erin Burnett rocked President Donald Trump’s past claims about mail-in voting in a devastating supercut on Monday.

The Supreme Court issued a narrow ruling on Monday blocking a lower court’s injunction that prohibited the Department of Homeland Security from creating its own voter roll. Experts sounded the alarm after the 6-3 ruling because it could throw the midterm elections, just 10 weeks away, into chaos.
All six conservative justices sided with the president in the ruling, while the three liberal justices dissented.
Burnett played a montage of Trump’s past claims about mail-in ballots, where he claimed they are “crooked” and “cheating.” That’s despite Trump himself voting by mail in multiple recent elections in Florida.

“It sounds like bad for thee, but not for me, right?” Burnett said. “Because … Trump himself votes by mail. In fact, he just did it for Florida’s Republican primary. He also did it earlier this year for a special election.”
CNN’s Kristen Holmes also noted that there are a couple of “sticking points” that need to be ironed out, and will likely prevent the order from going into effect ahead of the midterms. One of them is the implementation of the Postal Service’s new mail-in voting rules, which the agency conditioned on the Supreme Court’s Monday ruling.
Even so, the ruling’s impact is likely to be felt far and wide ahead of the midterms.
