Tyler Boebert pleaded guilty to misdemeanor child abuse and neglect following an incident involving his young son, TMZ reported. The child was reportedly discovered wandering outside his mother’s home last year.

“Mercy is not softness,” the MAGA lawmaker told the judge Friday before he announced the sentence. “Mercy is the difference between correcting a father and orphaning a son during his most important hours.”

The judge ultimately sentenced Tyler Boebert to 20 days in jail with work release. Prosecutors filed the misdemeanor charges against him in July 2025. The case adds to the legal problems hovering over the Colorado Republican’s son, according to reports.

“Tyler has also faced legal trouble in a separate child sexual exploitation case,” TMZ said. “One allegation stems from a 43-second video he allegedly recorded of an ex-girlfriend in 2024, when she was 17 and Tyler was 18.”

Another former girlfriend obtained a temporary civil protection order against Boebert after accusing him of sharing videos involving her and other girls, the outlet reported.
