Reporter Akayla Gardner and an MS NOW photographer were both ordered to hand over their press badges as they tried to enter the White House on Saturday morning, she revealed.

“This is the first action we know of them actually denying us entry in the White House,” said Gardner.

Gardner was denied access one day after President Donald Trump announced he would bar CNN, MSNOW and Politico from the White House, claiming without evidence they were publishing fake news.

“Media Outlets shouldn’t be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES when they’re covering the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America,” he wrote on Truth Social. “Other Fake News Media Outlets to follow.”

MS NOW on Saturday issued a statement condemning Trump’s actions and vowing to fight the ban.

“The White House belongs to the American people and the decisions made inside are funded by our tax dollars,” the statement reads.

“MS NOW intends to take any and all steps necessary to defend our First Amendment rights and the essential role of independent journalism in our democracy.”

Gardner’s colleagues and fellow journalists were quick to condemn the move.

“Only a White House that has everything to hide would do this,” wrote contributor Joyce Vance. “Proud to be on MSNOW.”

“If CBS & CNN merge is CBS banned from the White House too?” she asked with sarcasm.

CNN alum Jim Acosta called on all journalists to stand by MS NOW.

“The major networks and newspapers need to tell Trump they will pull their teams out of the WH if this ban happens,” he wrote on X. “There should be no pool coverage, starting at the UN this week. No WH Correspondents Dinner. Cancel that. Band together and hang tough.”
