President Donald Trump’s border czar sparked outrage Sunday after he lobbed a threat against a Democratic lawmaker during an interview on Fox News.

Tom Homan was asked about a potential investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) over her naturalization during Fox News’s show “The Sunday Briefing.” He confirmed a criminal investigation into the lawmaker and outlined some of the areas of interest the government is investigating.
“What would need to happen for her to be kicked out of the country if some fraud is proven?” the host asked Homan. “Is there a denaturalization case that is being brought against her?”
“We have denaturalized citizens based on fraud, based on lying on their applications, or misrepresenting themselves during the process, or misrepresenting the organizations they belong to, or the beliefs they have,” Homan said.
Republicans have often claimed that Omar lied during her naturalization process, including lobbing a claim that she married her “brother” to obtain citizenship. Omar has denied all claims, and no court has substantiated claims against the lawmaker.

Homan’s claims sparked outrage, with multiple political analysts sharing their reactions on social media.
“It’s a legal process, yes, but if it becomes motivated by a desire to punish political critics of the President, that’s incredibly alarming,” Patrick Chovanec, an economist, posted on Bluesky.
“Now do Melania,” Grant Stern, executive editor of Occupy Democrats, posted on X, referring to First Lady Melania Trump’s naturalization process, where she received the so-called “Einstein Visa” for her modeling.
“There is a technical term that describes Tom Homan’s performance during his talk show appearance: s—faced,” Scott Horton, contributing editor at Harper’s Magazine, posted on Bluesky, referring to Homan’s red-faced appearance during the interview.
