Trump’s attempt to dodge AI question immediately backfires: ‘As if we don’t know’

President Donald Trump stunned reporters Sunday after he was asked about his personal use of artificial intelligence.

Trump spoke with the press during his flight home from Ireland, where he attended the final round of the Irish Open at his golf course. One reporter asked Trump how he uses AI in his personal life, and the answer Trump gave dropped the jaws of multiple political analysts.

“I don’t want to tell you that,” Trump said.

Political analysts and the president’s critics chimed in on social media.

“Here’s one way!” Keith Edwards, a Democratic political commentator, posted on X, including an AI-generated photo of Trump appearing as Jesus Christ healing a sick man in bed that the president shared.

“As if we don’t know,” political commentary account Bad Fox Graphics posted on X, sharing a photo of Trump with viral AI-generated influencer Jessica Foster.

Trump’s comments come at a time when AI leaders like Anthropic’s Dario Amodei have called for slowing AI progress to let safety guardrails catch up.

Speaker Mike Johnson also said Sunday that Congress should not regulate AI because private-sector leaders like Amodei understand the technology much better.
