During a Saturday episode of “Inside Trump’s Head”, author Michael Wolff, who’s written several biographies about Trump, revealed how Trump’s hair is put together with a “patch kit” that’s toted around with the nation’s most important material.
“He has somebody who’s following — and there have been a couple of people, certainly, over the political year — who have carried the patch kit,” Wolff said. “They are next to the people who carry the nuclear codes.”
After Trump insisted earlier this week that his hair is not a wig, Inside Trump’s Head co-host Joanna Coles asked Wolff if the president uses a wig. Trump’s hair is patched together “with some kind of paste,” so it’s “only equivocally not a wig,” Wolff explained.
“He has what are called ‘patches,’ and they call it the ‘patch kit,’ and the patch kit is little, you know, small tufts of hair that match whatever color his hair might be at the time,” Wolff said. “Those are applied if needed and if necessary.”

Wolff recounted how in his first Trump biography, Fire and Fury, Ivanka Trump offered an “amused” perspective on her father’s hair. Ivanka Trump told Wolff that she knew putting Trump’s hair together required “having to tease it in certain ways, and having to pull it in certain ways, and having to fluff it in certain ways,” Wolff said.
“You kind of created this confection on top,” Wolff said. “His hair is a major enterprise and has been for many years.”
Coles laughed and agreed that Trump’s hair “does look like one of those spun sugar things that you can put your hand in and pull it out and start eating it, and it would have no caloric value at all.”
