Following a new wave of U.S. strikes on Iran launched Saturday evening, Iran has responded by launching a flurry of attacks of its own on three major U.S. allies, Axios’ Barak Ravid claimed Saturday night.

“Iran launched missile and drone attacks on Qatar, [the United Arab Emirates] and Jordan,” Ravid claimed on X Saturday night in a social media post to his more than 500,000 followers.
Minutes later, The New York Times corroborated Ravid’s claim with a report citing the United Arab Emirates’ defense ministry, which according to the Times “said it was intercepting missile and drone attacks from Iran” and “urged residents to remain in a safe place.”

The uptick in violence comes after Iranian officials announced earlier on Saturday that the Strait of Hormuz was “closed until further notice.” Iran cited continued U.S. “interventions in the region” as reason for the strait’s latest closure, whereas the Trump administration has also claimed Iran has violated the terms of the agreement.
Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Jordan all have major U.S. military installations. Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar is the United States’ largest military base in the Middle East, housing around 10,000 military personnel. The UAE hosts Al Dhafra Air Base, a key hub for reconnaissance and fighter jet deployments, while Jordan is home to Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, a major hub for U.S. air power in the region.
